Iโm a writer and environmentalist, cloud gazer, located in a remote region of France. I live at a crossroads of prose, change and inquiry, but there are plenty of side roads to points of aimless interest. Like champagne. And whisky.
With a BA from UC Berkeley in Renaissance History and an MSc in Environmental Strategy, I like to take an interdisciplinary approach. A stint as a renewable energy industry executive inspired me to start a blog and write about environmental and social issues.
Born and raised in California, I’ve lived in several countries over the years, and I’ve lived in France since 1995. Like my writing, I am a work in progress.

Bonjour – Thanks for stopping by and liking the Beagle Project! I look forward to exploring your posts.
Hi Paula, thanks for reading. You had mentioned an interest in the link between conservation and landmines so you may want to check out the Kavango-Zambezi Peace Park (http://landminesinafrica.wordpress.com/2011/09/02/august-2011-the-month-in-mines-by-landmines-in-africa/) and the need for Angola especially to clear mined lands to ensure the safety of park visitors. moe
Thanks very much – I will check that out. Keep up the good work on your blog!
Hi, I nominated you for the Liebster Award http://nightmarelogic.wordpress.com/2013/07/22/passing-on-the-feeling-an-award/ No worries either way, just wanted to let you know I enjoy your blog!
I love your tagline! Great! Lol. ๐
Thank you! Thanks also for stopping by – I enjoyed your blog, as well.
Given that you’re in a remote region of France, you might enjoy this blog, which focuses on the Alpine part of the country:

Thanks, that is indeed a gorgeous blog, and gives a closer view of what we see at a distance when we look out our window toward the Alps.
Hello, do you have an email address so I can contact you?
Thanks,
Dennis Payne

Just to let you know that I’ve nominated you for 3 awards… http://nightmarelogic.wordpress.com/2013/08/14/my-nominees/ No worries if you want them or not…. just showing my appreciation!
Wow – Thank you so much! I really enjoy your site as well, but haven’t had much time to comment on anything recently. The wild dust kicked up by this summer is finally settling, though, so I’ll have more time soon to communicate more.
Fascinating answers, Paula, and thanks for your kind comments. I’m going to check out your nominated bloggers. And Louis is from Upper Peninsula? Do you know the Sufjan Stevens song about the place? (it’s great!)
Yes on Sufjan Stevens – beautiful! Actually, Louis isn’t from Michigan, but he made a terrific documentary on copper mining there, and is working on a project on new, large-scale mining taking place on the shores of Lake Superior. I think you would enjoy his blog and his writing.
Hi Paula! Cool blog, I think I’ll stick around. Marina
Thanks! And welcome!
Liked your absinthe story!
Thank you!
Hey I love your Tesla door handles photo! https://champagnewhisky.files.wordpress.com/2014/03/dsc02064.jpg?w=300&h=225 — can I please use it for the blog at my work if we credit you?
Hi – thanks, and sure!
Thank you so much! Feel free to check out the post at https://www.pluglesspower.com/learn/tesla-owners-model-s-upgrades-really-worth-money/ — your door handles photo is under the “premium upgrades package” section since the lighted door handles are included in that option. charge on!
Great post.
I like the lighted door handles on the extras package…but what the heck is a ‘bioweapon defense mode’?!
Haha I know, right… Musk and his crazy naming conventions. It’s what he calls his super duper air filter — http://www.theverge.com/2015/9/30/9421719/tesla-model-x-bioweapon-defense-mode-button
I’m glad you liked the post! And thanks again for the photo assist ๐
